The Western U.P. Food Systems Council aims to create a supportive, interconnected, and equitable food system across our region through service and stewardship for the wellbeing of our earth, air, and water, and all living beings. We work to strengthen our communities by identifying and supporting our food systems’ unique resources, local needs, and regional priorities.

The Western U.P. Food Systems Council (WUPFSC) is a partnership coalition made up of government, university, public, and private entities across Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula. KBIC Natural Resources staff, alongside staff from Michigan Tech and Western UP Planning & Development, established the WUPFSC in the summer of 2018. Since that time, our partnership has grown across the 6-county region, and together, we have developed many food system resources to share with our communities.
